Neuro-Rehabilitation
The Texas Neurosciences Institute offers a professional
team of therapists specializing in treating patients
with a variety of diagnoses. Our caring, licensed
staff includes physical therapists, occupational
therapists and speech therapists who treat adult
and pediatric patients in an outpatient and inpatient
setting.
Pediatric patients treated include those
with cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome, Guillian Barre
or developmental abnormalities such as clubfoot.
Adult patients recovering from surgery, those who
have suffered brain injuries or strokes, or who have
a history of Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy,
Parkinson’s,
back problems or muscle or joint pain, are also treated.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapists help patients who have debilitating
pain, impaired function or difficulty walking. Through
individualized exercise programs, modalities and hands-on
care, improvement in weakness, joint function and pain
management can be achieved. Physical therapists work
with patients and their families by creating a solid
foundation that helps maximize pain-free function and
independence.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists help patients improve their
ability to perform basic self care and independent
living tasks. They address needs such as feeding, dressing,
bathing, grooming and toileting, and aid patients with
stress management, problem solving, judgment and sensation,
and memory and attention exercises.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapists treat patients with neurological
communication deficits, including difficulty speaking
after a stroke and impaired feeding or swallowing.
They also aid with oral motor control and mouth function
and assist patients in improving reading and problem-solving
skills.
