Your Care Team
During Your Stay
Vital members of your team that coordinate patient care from admission to discharge. You will be assigned a case manager prior to surgery. They will focus on obtaining the resources to assist you during your recovery.
The care team at The Texas Neurosciences Institute is aware that the pre-operative experience is your first impression of our commitment to your safety and dignity. Your stay begins in a private suite where registration is completed efficiently and clinical preparation is performed by our expert staff. This one-on-one experience allows you to be physically and mentally prepared for your surgery.
The surgeon may request that a CT or MRI scan be performed just prior to surgery. Our award winning radiology team performs this task in our state-of-the-art imaging suite.
During your Surgery:
We are mindful that during surgery, your loved ones will be anxious to receive updates on your progress. The surgical nurses are happy to provide information, with your permission, to the family representative of your choice
After your Surgery:
Your post-operative care will begin in the recovery room, also called PACU (Post Acute Care Unit) or the ICU (Intensive Care Unit). This allows surgeons and specialized nurses to continuously monitor vital signs and your body’s tolerance of the surgical procedure. Once the surgeon determines that you are stable to transfer from the PACU or ICU, you will be accompanied to the surgical floor. The surgical staff is focused on pain control and preparing you to transition home. You will get to meet many of your care team members at this time. Please do not hesitate to ask them questions.
After Your Stay
Case Managers will evaluate your needs to determine if you can return home independently or if you will need alternate living arrangements to continue your recovery. We will also evaluate your situation to see if you need assistive services and/or durable medical equipment. We will also work with your insurance company to obtain approval for the services you will need after discharge
